Support for Restoring Hope Youth Shelter
Rather than decorate its sanctuary for Thanksgiving, members of the First Baptist Ottawa congregation this year donated items to the Restoring Hope youth shelter, The Haven, located in the church building at 140 Laurier Avenue West at Elgin. The Haven operates a drop-in centre for youth 16 to 24, offering them a meal, activities, counselling, pastoral care and informal referrals for services at other agencies.
The Haven also offers safe, minimal-barrier accommodation five nights a week. Items donated to The Haven are used both in the shelter, and as supplements to the packed lunches provided to the young people who visit the facility.
